Statement

Duncikaite is a visual artist, born in Lithuania, Kaunas. Works as a sculptor around Europe, also she is interested in many other spheres, such as, Painting, Land Art, Photography, Installations, Digital Art.

Migle’s sculptures are a visual exploration of the human form and its relationship to the surrounding world. Another aspect of inspiration plays the stories which ones were founded and consumed during her experience exploring the surroundings. Through the medium of sculpture, Duncikaite strive to capture the essence of the personal experience, the complexity of emotions, and the interconnectedness of our existence.

Inspired by the beauty and diversity of the relationships between human and the nature, she carefully studies its anatomy, paying close attention to the interplay of structure, curves, and lines. Migle seeks to create sculptures targeting the inner beauty of the material, structure, surface and the story behind it that evokes a sense of grace, strength, and vulnerability.

In Migle’s artistic process, she works primarily with steel and recycled metals, a materials that allows her to achieve a sense of timelessness and permanence. The labor-intensive process of sculpting and casting enables her to give life to Duncikaite’s visions, transforming formless material into tangible expressions of the spirit. On the side she uses lot of different various materials, such as stone, glass, plaster, wood, ceramics to experiment and understand how they “communicate” with each other and what can be achieved with it.

Nature, philosophy and the environment also play a significant role in her work. Migle draws inspiration from the organic shapes, textures, and patterns found in the natural world, integrating elements of nature into her sculptures. By intertwining the philosophical aspects with human form, elements of flora, fauna, or geological formations, she aims to convey the interconnectedness of all living beings and highlight the fragility and resilience of our planet.

Each sculpture Migle creates has personal narrative, reflecting her own experiences, emotions, and observations. However, Duncikaite also strives to create a space for viewers to bring their own interpretations and experiences to the artworks, fostering a dialogue between the sculpture and the observer.
